Wed, 28 January 2009 Dr Alakija (Yodi) is by profession a medical doctor turned development specialist with experience in over 20 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Pacific region. She is co-founder and executive director of the Alakija foundation - an organization committed to the elimination of poverty globally through empowerment of people with particular emphasis on women and children. She served for many years with the United Nations in various capacities in the areas of Health, Adolescent Development and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
